Y&tF's sound is a combination of pop songwriting, American roots music (complete with soaring five part harmonies), like what might've happened if Old Crow Medicine Show tried to be Half Moon Run with a dash of the modern alt-folk movement carved by Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers. Y&tF has generally always had a larger international presence than a U.S. one, mainly touring the U.K.
